Since the inception of Share International magazine, Benjamin Creme’s Master has provided articles to be published not only at the time they were written, but also whenever appropriate according to world circumstances. Indeed, many of these articles seem more relevant now than when they were first published. This article, first printed in July/August 2012, addresses a major challenge of our time: the impact of commercialization, an insidious and destructive force, counterbalanced by the efforts of those working in all fields to establish new norms and priorities. Some are in conscious contact with the Masters of Wisdom, while others, the majority, simply respond to world need from their own sense of the need for justice and sanity.

The forerunners

Among humanity today is a growing number of men and women who are engaged in outlining the principles on which the new civilization will be built. They are to be found in almost every country, and they propagate the teachings which reflect the qualities of the New Age of Aquarius. They are to be found in every department of human living, and are to be recognized by their altruism and keen response to human need. These are the forerunners, sent ahead to prepare men for the experiences which will characterize the New Age. Some few of them work consciously, aware of their mission to aid a struggling world and of their connection with Hierarchy, but the majority work solely from the promptings of the heart and their desire to help.

Soon, it will be obvious to many that their ideas are being echoed across the world, that a large prepared contingent is at work, voicing aloud the desire of men for change, and the implications for society that this change will inevitably bring. These changes go to the heart of the human problem today: the separation of men and nations that threatens the security of the world. Without these changes men stand on a knife-edge of disaster; the unbridled march of commercialization into every aspect of human life endangers the race.

More and more, men are seen as superfluous in a struggle for existence, mere pawns in a gigantic game of ‘hunt the dollar’. Human trust and social cohesion are nowhere to be seen in this rapacious contest for gain at any cost. Not for much longer can humanity stand the strain of this struggle, in which men are taking their stand, for love or insane greed.

Behind the scenes Maitreya and His Group fan the flames of this conflict and gradually, more and more, men are beginning to see their path. With growing will, they voice aloud their need for change, following the precepts of the men and women of vision who are leading the way.

Thus does Maitreya work for the good of all, fostering the best that men can offer and showing the best that men can become. Hierarchy looks benevolently on this momentous struggle for the future of mankind, certain of the outcome: the overcoming of both greed and despair, and the triumph of the human spirit.
