Krishnamurti - FAQ

Q. (1) Why do you think Krishnamurti rejected the Hierarchy, teaching instead that the only authority should be ourselves? (2) Is he a Master himself? If not, what degree initiate?

A. (1) With respect, Krishnamurti did not reject Hierarchy. Indeed, his teaching that the only authority should be oneself is precisely the age-old teaching of Hierarchy, from the Buddha Himself to the Master DK, who prefaced each book of His amanuensis, Alice Bailey, with the advice not to take the contents as an ëauthority', Hierarchical or otherwise. That His advice has not always been taken by aspirants is another matter.  (2) No, Krishnamurti was not a Master but a fourth-degree initiate.

Q. What role will Krishnamurti, who was previously proclaimed as the medium of the Lord Maitreya, play or is playing at the moment now that the World Teacher has re-appeared?

A. Krishnamurti is, of course, a teacher, one of the most influential of the many teachers today. At one time he was indeed being prepared, along with a few others, by overshadowing, as a possible vehicle for the World Teacher. When the Lord Maitreya decided to manifest Himself by means of the self-created body (mayavirupa) in which He now lives among us, Krishnamurti began his present teaching work, which presumably will continue.
